About Us
Small Farm. Big Flavor.
Rooted in the heart of America’s farmland, Free Day Popcorn is a family-owned business located along the Kansas-Nebraska border. Founded by Nate and Stacey Freitag, our farm specializes in growing and packaging premium, non-GMO popcorn—including yellow butterfly, white butterfly, and mushroom varieties.
With popcorn-growing traditions dating back to the 1980s, our multi-generational operation blends old-fashioned care with modern practices to deliver popcorn that’s farm-fresh and full of flavor. Each kernel is grown with integrity, harvested seasonally, and packaged with purpose—so you can enjoy a snack that’s as close to the source as it gets.
We believe people deserve to know their farmer, and we love sharing our story (and our popcorn!) with families across the country. Our four daughters are involved in every part of the process—from planting to packaging—making this a true family affair.
Whether you’re popping for a party or a quiet movie night, Free Day Popcorn is proud to bring you a taste of the farm.

Stacey Freitag
Originally from Pennsylvania, Stacey Freitag earned her B.S. in Business Communication from Juniata College in 2005. After marrying a Nebraskan, she traded skyscrapers for silos and found herself right at home on the family farm.
Stacey is co-founder of Free Day Popcorn, where she and her husband Nate grow premium non-GMO popcorn and raise four daughters who are hands-on in the business. With a marketing background and passion for storytelling, Stacey leads customer engagement, branding, and community outreach.
Now a proud Nebraska transplant, she’s committed to growing food with integrity and connecting people to the farm behind each kernel.
