About Us

Private Oaks was founded on a lifelong friendship and a shared belief that luxury and integrity should exist side by side. Raised in the agricultural heart of south-central Nebraska, founders Clayton Schenk and Shane Powell grew up surrounded by hard work, honesty, and a deep respect for the land. Coming from farming families, they learned early the value of natural ingredients, thoughtful craftsmanship, and caring for what sustains us. Though their paths diverged after college—Clayton earning a degree in Psychology from Hastings College and building a successful career in agricultural sales, and Shane graduating from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a degree in Business before returning to his family’s farm—their shared passion for health, fitness, and helping others live better lives never faded. After more than fifteen years cultivating experience in their respective fields, they reunited with a purpose: to create products that reflected their roots while elevating everyday self-care. Frustrated by mass-produced soaps filled with synthetic additives and harsh chemicals, Clayton and Shane set out to craft something better—soaps made with organic oils and butters, natural clays, and mineral salts that honor both skin and environment. Each bar of Private Oaks soap blends small-batch craftsmanship with premium, thoughtfully sourced ingredients to promote cleaner, healthier living without sacrificing accessibility.
